About the role
We work with a nationally known building technology contractor that is growing its fire alarm design practice fast. The work is coming in faster than they can staff it. They need a working NICET IV designer who will be their in-house fire alarm expert and the foundation of a new design team.
This is not a desk-only review role. You will produce your own drawings, guide the CAD team, and be the person clients call when they have a fire alarm question.
What you'll do
- Design commercial fire alarm systems from start to finish: device layouts, riser diagrams, battery and voltage-drop calculations, sequences of operation and submittal packages
- Produce your own drawings in AutoCAD and Revit, and mark up and review in Bluebeam
- Guide and check the work of CAD drafters who support the design team
- Act as the client-facing fire alarm expert: answer questions, walk clients through designs and keep them confident
- Work with the survey team, project managers and AHJs; respond to plan review comments and keep submittals moving
- Handle a steady flow of fast-turn, multi-site projects, mostly for national retail clients
- Help build and mentor a team of junior designers as the practice grows
Compensation and benefits
- $120,000 to $130,000 base, based on experience and certification
- Annual bonus, about 5% to 10% of base
- Full benefits package, with health insurance premiums 100% company-paid
- 100% remote with minimal travel; company-provided equipment
